Committed: A City Church Series beginning Sunday, September 3rd, 2017.

The heart of this sermon series is about making a commitment to the service of the Lord. Jesus said, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.” Luke 9:62.

A committed person is someone who has made up their mind not to turn back. It’s someone who’s driven by passion, and constantly exercises both determination and discipline. Likewise, we serve God because of our passionate love for Him. It’s a different, eternal perspective. If someone loses their commitment to serve Him, it’s likely because that person lost interest in his/her first love. (S)he will need to remember what it was that first drew them to Him and kept him/her at His feet.

In a way, commitment to the service of the Lord can be likened to the requirements an athlete must fulfill to achieve a fitness goal: no quitting until completion.
